Position Overview
As a chemist, you will plan and carry out organic compound testing on water, soil, and air samples using GC-FID, GC-MS, GC-ECD, and HPLC instruments. You’ll develop and validate new methods and protocols to enhance laboratory capabilities, perform instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, conduct measurement uncertainty studies, maintain accurate laboratory records, and ensure strict compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements and laboratory safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
Organic Compound Testing & Analysis
- Plan and carry out organic compound testing on water, soil, and air samples
- Operate GC-FID, GC-MS, GC-ECD, and HPLC instrumentation for sample analysis
- Develop and validate new methods and protocols to enhance laboratory capabilities
- Perform measurement uncertainty studies and support method validation efforts
Instrument Calibration & Maintenance
- Perform instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Ensure consistent and reliable operation of GC and related systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for instrument performance
- Identify process enhancements and propose method upgrades
Documentation & Quality Compliance
- Maintain accurate laboratory records including instrument logs and test reports
- Document raw data, standard preparations, and chain-of-custody records
- Conduct routine QA/QC checks and standardization procedures
- Ensure strict compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements and lab safety protocols
Process Improvement & SOP Development
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory operations
- Contribute to SOP development for testing and quality procedures
- Follow directives from the Quality Supervisor or Lab Manager on QA/QC matters
- Apply data analysis and reporting software to support decision-making
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an environmental or analytical laboratory
- In-depth knowledge of organic chemistry and instrumental analysis techniques
