Position Overview
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing, tracking, and optimizing inventory across mechanical, electrical, and software-related activities within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. This role supports workshop manufacturing, system integration, testing, and field operations by ensuring the availability, traceability, and integrity of all parts, tools, and equipment, ranging from off-the-shelf (OTS) components to custom-manufactured items.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records for mechanical, electrical, and software-related components
- Manage stock levels for OTS parts, raw materials, and manufactured items
- Implement and maintain inventory control procedures, including min/max stock levels and critical spare parts management
Warehouse & Workshop Coordination
- Organize and optimize storage areas for efficient access and traceability
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage conditions, including for sensitive electronic and precision mechanical components
- Support workshop activities by preparing kits for assembly, integration, and testing
Field Operations Support
- Prepare and track equipment, spare parts, and toolkits for field deployments and testing activities
- Manage asset check-in/check-out processes
- Ensure full traceability of components used during deployments and operations
Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination
- Collaborate with procurement teams to forecast material requirements and initiate replenishment
- Monitor supplier lead times and proactively identify potential shortages
- Support vendor evaluation with feedback on component performance and reliability
Configuration, Traceability & Systems Management
- Maintain traceability of serialized components and critical systems
- Ensure inventory alignment with engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Track lifecycle status of parts, including availability, utilization, repair status, and obsolescence
- Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to track movements, consumption, and stock levels
- Generate reports on inventory status, usage patterns, and discrepancies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of inventory processes and digital tools
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
Experience Requirements
- 3 to 7 years of experience in inventory, warehouse, or materials management within a technical or engineering environment
- Experience managing mixed inventories, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components
- Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of engineering components, including mechanical parts, connectors, PCBs, cables, and related hardware
- Ability to read and interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Knowledge of handling and storage requirements for sensitive equipment, including ESD-controlled items
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or equivalent data analysis tools
Soft Skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in inventory and data management
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, procurement teams, and field personnel
