Position Overview
The Quality Specialist at Amazon UFG Dubai is a core member of the Category Quality Team — responsible for ensuring that Meat, Seafood, Fruits, Vegetables, Eggs, and other perishable items consistently meet Amazon’s quality bar from inbound inspection through to customer delivery. This hands-on operational role covers daily inbound quality reviews at Amazon stores, hubs, and vendor sites, rejection of damaged or defective items, picking and packing audit activities, packaging standard monitoring, weekly bin audits, associate quality training, and active contribution to process improvement and automation initiatives. The ideal candidate brings HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP certifications alongside strong fresh produce knowledge and a genuine passion for quality and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Inbound Quality Inspection & Vendor Management
- Review the quality of Meat, Seafood, Fruits, Vegetables, Eggs, and other perishable items during inbound at Amazon stores, hubs, and vendor sites — applying Amazon’s quality bar rigorously
- Reject damaged or defective items back to the vendor — recording all rejected items by item, vendor, and quantity for accurate reporting and performance tracking
- Assist vendors in optimising their operations to meet and exceed Amazon UFG’s quality requirements for fresh and perishable categories on a daily basis
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with vendors, instock managers, vendor managers, store operation managers, and fulfillment partners
Picking, Packing & Packaging Standard Audits
- Audit the quality of items during the picking and packing process performed by LPC associates — ensuring all items selected meet Amazon UFG quality specifications before dispatch
- Monitor and verify packaging standards during the packing process — ensuring consistent, compliant, and customer-appropriate packaging across all perishable categories
- Perform daily audits of bins and share weekly and daily reports with relevant stakeholders — providing clear, accurate, and actionable quality data to the operations team
- Identify packaging issues, handling non-conformances, and packing deviations — escalating and resolving issues promptly to maintain customer delivery quality
Associate Training & Quality SOP Delivery
- Train store and hub associates on fresh produce and perishable quality standards, SOPs, and packaging requirements — building quality awareness and competence across operational teams
- Deliver quality training that is practical, engaging, and directly applicable to day-to-day picking, packing, and handling activities at Amazon UFG stores and hubs in Dubai
- Support the onboarding of new associates on quality requirements — ensuring all team members understand and consistently apply Amazon UFG’s quality bar from day one
- Provide clear and accessible guidance on food safety standards, HACCP requirements, and fresh produce handling best practices to all operational staff
Process Improvement, Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Drive process improvement initiatives across quality inspection, vendor operations, packing, and storage — actively contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Actively participate in stakeholder meetings — contributing quality data, insights, and improvement recommendations to instock managers, vendor managers, and operations leadership
- Maintain excellent accuracy in data handling and quality reporting — ensuring all findings, rejections, and audit results are documented clearly and shared with relevant stakeholders on time
- Contribute to the identification and implementation of automation and process improvement opportunities that enhance quality outcomes and operational efficiency across UFG operations
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field — or equivalent experience demonstrating strong written and oral communication ability across technical, business, and executive levels
- HACCP certification, PIC 3 (Person In Charge) certified by Dubai Municipality, ISO 22000, and GMP certification — all required for this role
Experience Requirements
- Relevant experience in food quality, fresh produce inspection, perishable quality management, or food safety compliance in a retail, grocery, or food distribution environment
- Food safety knowledge of fruits, vegetables, and fresh produce quality specifications — with familiarity with the Dubai F&V Market at Al Aweer Central Fruit Market being a strong advantage
Essential Skills
- Experience with MS Office Professional Suite — particularly MS Excel — for quality data handling, reporting, and audit tracking
- Eye for detail and operational excellence — able to consistently apply rigorous quality standards across high-volume, fast-paced fresh produce operations
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on building collaborative relationships across vendors, associates, and internal Amazon UFG stakeholders
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions in a fast-moving grocery environment
