Position Overview

The Warehouse and Logistics Manager at ABB Frankfurt is a dual operational and leadership role responsible for organizing and controlling daily warehouse operations — including goods receiving, SAP inventory management, warehouse capacity optimization, and inventory control — while also providing technical and disciplinary leadership to the warehouse team. You will support and guide team members in daily operations, check incoming goods and manage SAP recording, ensure safety regulation compliance, plan and coordinate national and international shipping activities, manage stakeholder relationships with freight companies, foster team development through training and clear communication, and continuously contribute ideas and practical improvements to make warehouse logistics at ABB Frankfurt leaner, more efficient, and more future-proof.

Why This Role Matters: At ABB Frankfurt, the Warehouse and Logistics Manager is the operational foundation on which ABB’s supply chain commitments are built. When goods arrive, your team processes them accurately and efficiently. When outbound shipments need to reach customers — nationally and internationally — your coordination with freight companies and logistics partners determines whether ABB delivers on its commitments. And when your team is well-led, well-trained, and well-supported, the entire warehouse operation runs with the discipline and precision that a global technology company like ABB expects and its customers depend on. Your leadership and operational expertise make the difference between a warehouse that functions and one that truly performs.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations Control & Capacity Optimization

  • Control and organize all daily warehouse processes — considering available resources, workload distribution, and operational priorities to ensure that goods receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch activities are completed efficiently, accurately, and within expected timeframes at ABB’s Frankfurt facility
  • Support the optimization of warehouse capacity and inventory levels — analyzing space utilization, identifying storage inefficiencies, implementing layout improvements, and working with the Planning & Fulfillment Manager to maintain appropriate inventory levels that support operations without generating unnecessary holding costs
  • Continuously identify and contribute process improvement ideas — applying a structured, solution-oriented mindset to systematically improve warehouse workflows, reduce waste, increase throughput, and enhance the overall operational efficiency of ABB’s Frankfurt warehouse function

SAP-Based Inventory Management — MM-SAP & WM-SAP

  • Lead and support the team in all SAP-based warehouse management and inventory recording activities — checking incoming goods, recording them accurately in the SAP system using MM-SAP and WM-SAP modules, and maintaining up-to-date, accurate inventory data that supports downstream planning, procurement, and fulfillment processes
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inventory lists — ensuring all goods movements, stock adjustments, and inventory transactions are correctly recorded in SAP and that inventory data accurately reflects physical stock positions in the Frankfurt warehouse at all times
  • Use SAP inventory data to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes of inventory variances, and implement corrective actions that restore inventory accuracy and prevent recurrence of stock record errors

Team Leadership — Technical & Disciplinary

  • Provide technical and disciplinary leadership to the warehouse team — setting clear performance expectations, providing daily operational guidance, resolving technical questions and challenges, and creating the clear organizational structures and collaborative team culture that enable consistently high performance
  • Foster team development through regular, practical training, constructive and respectful communication, and active support for each team member’s skill development and professional growth within the ABB Frankfurt logistics function
  • Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and high-performance working environment — building team cohesion, resolving interpersonal challenges proactively and constructively, and demonstrating the leadership standards that ABB expects from its people managers across the organization

National & International Shipping Coordination

  • Organize and manage all national and international shipping activities from the Frankfurt facility — planning outbound shipments, selecting appropriate freight modes and carriers, coordinating shipping schedules with internal teams and freight partners, and ensuring all shipments are dispatched correctly, on time, and with accurate shipping documentation
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with freight companies — maintaining professional, productive working relationships with logistics service providers, monitoring freight partner performance against service level agreements, and proactively addressing service failures or communication gaps that affect ABB’s outbound shipment reliability
  • Ensure all international shipping activities comply with applicable export regulations, customs documentation requirements, and ABB’s internal shipping compliance policies — coordinating with compliance and finance teams as required to maintain full regulatory adherence on all cross-border shipments

Safety Compliance & Regulatory Adherence

  • Ensure full compliance with workplace safety regulations across all warehouse operations — conducting regular safety briefings, monitoring adherence to safety procedures, investigating safety incidents promptly, and maintaining the safe working environment that ABB’s safety standards and German occupational safety regulations require
  • Actively contribute to smooth, compliant warehouse operations — proactively identifying safety risks, equipment hazards, and process compliance gaps, and implementing corrective measures before they result in incidents, injuries, or regulatory findings

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational & Professional Background

  • Commercial apprenticeship (kaufmännische Ausbildung) or comparable qualification with a focus on logistics, warehouse management, freight forwarding, or supply chain — providing the operational logistics foundation required for this role at ABB Frankfurt
  • At least several years of professional experience as a logistics specialist or logistics professional (Fachkraft für Lagerlogistik, Logistikkaufmann, or equivalent) — demonstrating a solid track record in warehouse operations, goods handling, inventory management, and logistics coordination in a professional manufacturing or technology company context

SAP & Systems Proficiency

  • Strong proficiency in SAP — particularly the MM-SAP (Materials Management) and WM-SAP (Warehouse Management) modules — with solid, practical experience using these systems for goods receipt posting, inventory management, stock transfer orders, and warehouse management activities in a professional logistics environment

Leadership & Management Experience

  • Ideally some previous management or team leadership experience in a logistics, warehouse, or operations environment — with a good sense for team dynamics, operational process management, and the practical challenges of leading a warehouse team in a fast-paced industrial environment

Language Requirements

  • Fluent communication in both German and English — essential for daily team management, internal stakeholder communication, freight company coordination, and ABB’s international operating environment

Personal Attributes

  • Structured, solution-oriented working style — able to maintain operational overview even during busy periods and resolve day-to-day logistics challenges calmly, practically, and effectively without losing sight of broader warehouse performance objectives
  • Strong process awareness and team sensitivity — understanding that operational excellence in a warehouse depends as much on team culture, clear communication, and mutual respect as it does on systems and procedures
