Hiring an experienced QA Coordinator for a prestigious multinational food manufacturing company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This strategic role focuses on driving Quality Assurance and Food Safety compliance while strengthening and continuously improving the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) across manufacturing operations.
Position Overview – QA Coordinator
The QA Coordinator serves as a critical leadership position responsible for implementing and enhancing comprehensive food safety and quality management systems including HACCP, Halal certification, Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), Threat Assessment Critical Control Points (TACCP), Vulnerability Assessment Critical Control Points (VACCP), Food Defense, and Food Fraud prevention programs. This role combines technical expertise with strategic leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain global quality standards.
Working with a leading multinational food manufacturer, the QA Coordinator will provide technical support to production operations, manage audit programs, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a strong food safety culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities & Core Functions
- FSQMS Leadership and Implementation: Lead comprehensive implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) including HACCP principles, Halal certification requirements, Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), Threat Assessment Critical Control Points (TACCP), Vulnerability Assessment Critical Control Points (VACCP), Food Defense protocols, and Food Fraud prevention strategies
- Technical QA Support to Production: Provide expert technical Quality Assurance support to production departments, ensuring complete compliance with food safety regulations, customer specifications, and global standards including ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC, and IFS
- Laboratory Results Review and Analysis: Critically review laboratory testing results, microbiological analysis data, and chemical testing reports; identify trends, assess risks, and drive timely corrective actions to address quality deviations
- Non-Conformance Control: Control and manage non-conforming raw materials and finished goods based on comprehensive risk assessment, implementing appropriate disposition decisions including hold, rework, or rejection procedures
- Audit Coordination and CAPA Management: Coordinate and facilitate internal quality audits, external certification audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections; manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) programs ensuring timely closure and effectiveness verification
- Supplier Quality Management: Support supplier quality assurance programs including vendor audits, raw material approvals, supplier performance monitoring, and collaborative quality improvement initiatives
- Customer Complaint Management: Support customer complaint investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and customer communication to maintain satisfaction and prevent recurrence
- Product Change Management: Manage product change control processes including formulation modifications, process changes, packaging updates, and supplier changes ensuring proper validation and documentation
- Recall Coordination: Support product recall procedures when required, coordinating recall activities, traceability verification, effectiveness checks, and regulatory reporting
- Team Coaching and Development: Coach and mentor QA team members, provide technical training, develop competencies, and promote professional growth within quality assurance department
- Food Safety Culture Promotion: Actively promote and strengthen food safety culture across the plant through training programs, awareness campaigns, leadership engagement, and recognition initiatives
Required Qualifications & Educational Background
- Academic Credentials (Mandatory): Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Veterinary Medicine, Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related technical field from accredited university
- Industry Experience (Essential): Minimum 8 years of progressive professional experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety roles within food manufacturing, food processing, or related industries
- Manufacturing Expertise: Demonstrated experience working in food manufacturing environments with understanding of production processes, quality systems, and operational challenges
- FSQMS Implementation Experience: Proven track record implementing and managing Food Safety and Quality Management Systems in compliance with international standards
- Leadership Background: Experience leading quality teams, managing projects, and coordinating cross-functional initiatives in manufacturing settings
Essential Technical Knowledge & Skills
- GMP Expertise (Required): Strong comprehensive knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices including hygiene standards, sanitation procedures, facility design, equipment maintenance, and operational controls
- HACCP Proficiency (Mandatory): Deep understanding of HACCP principles, hazard analysis methodologies, critical control point identification, monitoring procedures, verification activities, and documentation requirements
- Halal Certification Knowledge (Essential): Thorough knowledge of Halal certification requirements, Islamic dietary laws, Halal ingredients, processing requirements, and certification body standards
- Audit Readiness (Required): Strong capabilities in audit preparation, audit facilitation, evidence gathering, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement planning
- TACCP and VACCP: Understanding of Threat Assessment Critical Control Points for intentional contamination and Vulnerability Assessment for supply chain vulnerabilities
- Food Defense and Fraud Prevention: Knowledge of food defense strategies against intentional adulteration and food fraud prevention measures
- Global Standards Familiarity: Working knowledge of ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC Global Standards, IFS Food Safety, and other recognized food safety certification schemes
