The Quality and Laboratory Governance Officer position at Miral Experiences represents a strategic leadership role ensuring SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s diagnostic laboratory operates with excellence and compliance. You’ll design and maintain ISO-aligned quality management systems, manage document control and SOP governance, conduct internal audits, track corrective actions, develop training frameworks, manage equipment governance, oversee HSE compliance, and provide objective assurance to leadership. This role requires extensive quality management expertise, deep knowledge of laboratory standards, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently while collaborating effectively, and commitment to maintaining laboratory quality and reducing organizational risk.
As a Laboratory Governance Officer, you’ll serve as trusted advisor to the Senior Laboratory Manager and Veterinary Pathologist, ensuring laboratory activities maintain highest quality standards and regulatory compliance. You’ll design practical quality systems, conduct rigorous audits, identify systemic risks, support continuous improvement, and maintain documentation excellence. Key Responsibilities & Laboratory Governance Duties
Laboratory Management & Quality Systems Design
- Design and implement ISO-aligned Quality Management System for veterinary diagnostic laboratory
- Manage laboratory document control systems and SOP governance
- Ensure version control and approval workflows for all procedures
- Maintain risk assessment frameworks covering laboratory, process, equipment, and task-based risks
- Coordinate management review processes and quality metrics reporting
Audit, Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Plan and conduct internal audits of laboratory processes, safety, and compliance
- Track and document corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
- Follow up on audit findings until proper closure
- Support readiness for external audits and accreditation activities
- Identify systemic risks, trends, and recurring issues for escalation
Training, Competency & Induction Programs
- Develop and maintain laboratory training and induction frameworks
- Ensure training records and competency assessments are current
- Develop role-specific SOP training and refresher programs
- Support audit readiness through consistent operational compliance
- Manage staff authorizations and competency documentation
Equipment & Infrastructure Governance
- Ensure equipment performance documentation and compliance traceability
- Work with laboratory and facilities teams addressing infrastructure risks
- Manage equipment governance and performance verification
- Support maintenance scheduling and equipment validation
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Support implementation of laboratory-specific HSE policies and procedures
- Conduct laboratory safety inspections and walkthroughs
- Support incident reporting and investigation from systems perspective
- Ensure HSE compliance documentation and records
Governance Reporting & Advisory Role
- Provide objective assurance and evidence-based reporting to leadership
- Act as trusted advisor on quality, safety, and compliance matters
- Escalate significant risks and non-compliances through governance channels
- Support positive safety and quality culture through education
- Maintain constructive relationships across multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline required
- Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or quality discipline
- Bachelor’s degree in related professional field
- Equivalent professional qualification in quality management
Professional Experience
- 3-5 years experience in quality, compliance, governance, or HSE-related role
- Demonstrated experience developing or maintaining SOPs
- Background in risk assessment and compliance systems
- Exposure to audit processes and governance reporting
Technical Knowledge & Expertise
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality management systems principles
