Position Overview
This Agriculture Team Lead position at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Jamestown, NY is a high-impact leadership role that places you at the center of agricultural education and community development in Chautauqua County. You will assist with the daily functioning of the Association, provide dynamic leadership across the full cycle of agriculture programming — from needs assessment and curriculum development through delivery and evaluation — and serve as a key driver of the Extension’s mission to bring Cornell University’s agricultural expertise directly to local farmers, producers, and communities throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities
Agriculture Program Leadership & Assessment
- Provide dynamic leadership in the assessment of local agricultural needs and community programming priorities
- Lead development and planning of comprehensive agriculture educational programs aligned with county and state goals
- Oversee the delivery of impactful, research-based agriculture educational content to Chautauqua County audiences
- Evaluate the outcomes and effectiveness of all agriculture programming and implement continuous improvement measures
Daily Association Operations & Team Leadership
- Assist with the daily functioning of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County Association
- Provide hands-on leadership and support to the agriculture team ensuring smooth, mission-aligned operations
- Serve as a collaborative, approachable leader who motivates staff and fosters a positive team environment
- Coordinate cross-functional activities within the Association to ensure integrated, high-quality service delivery
Community Engagement & Educational Outreach
- Engage actively with local farmers, agricultural producers, and community stakeholders across Chautauqua County
- Develop and deliver educational workshops, field demonstrations, and training programs for agricultural audiences
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local agricultural partners, government agencies, and community organizations
- Represent Cornell Cooperative Extension professionally at community events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings
Program Planning, Evaluation & Reporting
- Design structured program evaluation frameworks to measure impact and report outcomes to stakeholders and funders
- Apply evidence-based planning methodologies to continuously improve agriculture program design and content delivery
- Maintain accurate records of program activities, participation data, and educational outcomes for reporting purposes
- Contribute to grant writing and funding development efforts that support and expand agriculture programming initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Master’s degree required — in Agriculture, Agricultural Education, Extension Education, or a closely related field
- Additional professional certifications or training in agricultural extension, adult education, or program management are a plus
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in agriculture, agricultural education, extension programming, or community outreach
- Demonstrated experience in program planning, curriculum development, and educational program evaluation required
- Prior leadership or team management experience in an agricultural or educational setting strongly preferred
Essential Skills
- Strong leadership abilities with demonstrated capacity to assess needs, develop plans, and drive educational programming
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with diverse agricultural audiences
