Position Overview
The QC Chemist at this Jebel Ali edible oil refinery is a technically demanding, high-accountability role within a busy food manufacturing quality laboratory. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of chemical and physical quality testing — from FFA and peroxide value analysis through to iodine value, color, soap content, phosphorus, density, and viscosity testing — ensuring every product that leaves the facility meets the company’s strict quality specifications and international food safety standards.
In addition to laboratory testing, you will manage documentation, prepare Certificates of Analysis, maintain equipment calibration, coordinate with production and warehouse teams, and support internal and external audits. If you are a chemistry or food science graduate with hands-on edible oil or food manufacturing QC experience and a passion for precise, disciplined laboratory work, this role is built for you.
Why This Role Matters: Edible oil quality control is one of the most technically rigorous disciplines in food manufacturing. Every test the QC Chemist performs — from Free Fatty Acid measurement to peroxide value and phosphorus analysis — directly determines whether products are safe, compliant, and fit for consumer use. In Jebel Ali’s competitive food manufacturing environment, the QC Chemist is the technical backbone of product integrity, regulatory compliance, and consumer trust. This role offers strong career development within a high-demand technical specialty in the UAE’s growing edible oils sector.
 Key Responsibilities
Quality Testing & Chemical Analysis
- Conduct comprehensive physical, chemical, and analytical testing of crude oil, refined oil, finished edible oil products, and all packaging materials received at the facility.
- Perform routine laboratory analysis including Free Fatty Acid (FFA), Moisture & Impurities (M&I), Peroxide Value (PV), Iodine Value (IV), color analysis, soap content, phosphorus analysis, and density and viscosity measurements.
- Monitor refining process parameters and product conformity at all critical stages of the oil refining operation.
- Verify product quality during receiving, production, filling, and dispatch stages — ensuring products meet specifications before release for shipment.
Laboratory Operations & Maintenance
- Maintain all laboratory equipment in optimal working condition through regular calibration, performance verification, and timely reporting of any malfunction or deviation.
- Prepare all required reagents, chemical solutions, and standard reference samples to support routine and non-routine analytical testing activities.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of all chemicals and laboratory consumables in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the laboratory area at all times, ensuring the environment is suitable for accurate, contamination-free testing.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record all test results accurately and completely in laboratory reports, ERP system logs, and manual registers in real time.
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COA) for all finished products, ensuring COAs are accurate, complete, and issued in a timely manner for customer and regulatory requirements.
- Report all non-conforming products and process deviations to the immediate supervisor promptly, with clear documentation and supporting test data.
- Maintain comprehensive quality records in full compliance with ISO, HACCP, GMP, and local food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Food Safety Compliance & Audits
- Ensure strict compliance with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, food safety and hygiene standards, and all applicable local UAE regulatory requirements at all times.
- Participate actively in internal quality audits and external regulatory inspections — preparing documentation, providing evidence, and supporting audit teams during site visits.
- Support Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities by investigating the root causes of quality deviations and contributing to the implementation of effective corrective measures.
Production Support & Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Production, Warehouse, and Maintenance departments to resolve quality-related issues promptly and minimize disruption to production schedules.
- Monitor product stability and shelf-life requirements to ensure product integrity is maintained throughout storage and distribution.
- Assist in troubleshooting quality problems during refining and packaging operations — providing technical analysis and recommendations to production teams.
 Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Technology, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline — mandatory
