Position Overview

Inhabit in Knoxville, Tennessee is seeking a technically strong, detail-oriented Revenue Accountant to manage and direct the company’s financial reporting, revenue recognition, internal controls, and compliance activities.  Key Responsibilities

Revenue Recognition & Contract Analysis

  • Review, analyse, and interpret customer contracts and agreements to determine the appropriate revenue recognition treatment — ensuring full compliance with US GAAP and applicable technical accounting standards including ASC 606
  • Prepare and reconcile comprehensive monthly revenue reports and account balances — providing detailed, actionable analyses of revenue variances that support informed management decision-making across Inhabit’s SaaS business lines
  • Provide expert technical accounting guidance and well-documented research on revenue recognition policies — monitoring evolving accounting standards and assessing their application to Inhabit’s financial reporting requirements
  • Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies, memos, and technical accounting documentation that clearly articulate Inhabit’s revenue accounting positions for internal, external, and audit purposes

SOX Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Assess, design, and implement robust financial reporting controls in full accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements — ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and reliability of Inhabit’s financial reporting across all entities
  • Develop and execute control testing procedures as required by SOX compliance standards — documenting results, identifying control deficiencies, and coordinating remediation actions with the finance and operations teams
  • Monitor and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of existing internal controls — proactively identifying control gaps, process risks, and improvement opportunities across Inhabit’s financial operations
  • Partner with management to strengthen the internal control environment — embedding a culture of financial discipline, accountability, and compliance across the organisation’s shared services finance function

External Audit Coordination & Financial Reporting

  • Oversee and coordinate all periodic external audit activities — serving as a primary point of contact for external auditors and ensuring audit requests are fulfilled accurately, completely, and within agreed timelines
  • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive audit schedules, supporting data, and detailed financial information packages — enabling smooth, efficient external audit processes with minimal disruption to business operations
  • Manage and direct the company’s financial reporting activities — including the accumulation, consolidation, and preparation of internal and external financial statements that meet US GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Support the accelerated financial close process — applying strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls to ensure timely, accurate period-end close activities across Inhabit’s multi-institutional structure

Finance Initiatives & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Research, plan, and execute strategic finance initiatives including software and systems implementations, process improvements, and other departmental or company-wide financial transformation projects as required
  • Work closely with management teams and operational partners to facilitate continual improvement across company-wide financial operations — acting as a trusted finance business partner to drive practical, sustainable solutions
  • Potentially manage a remote accounting team — providing leadership, direction, and development support to team members working across different locations within Inhabit’s growing multi-company structure
  • Contribute to private equity reporting requirements and credit facility management activities — supporting the financial information needs of Inhabit’s PE backers and lending partners with accurate, timely financial data

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution — this is a firm educational requirement for the Revenue Accountant role at Inhabit Knoxville, Tennessee
  • CPA licence is strongly preferred — candidates with active CPA certification will be given priority consideration for this technically demanding revenue accounting and SOX compliance role
