Position Overview
The Senior HVAC Engineer (Offshore) at Worley Abu Dhabi is responsible for checking and approving the main HVAC deliverables issued by the mechanical discipline — including calculation reports, design criteria, technical specifications, data sheets, equipment schedules, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations. This senior role also involves performing HVAC design calculations to applicable international codes to size key equipment, reviewing vendor documentation, defining technical solutions for complex engineering problems, proposing cost and schedule optimisations, supporting Chief Engineers during tender bid phases, and maintaining and developing HVAC discipline knowledge. Extensive offshore EPC experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or energy projects is essential.

Key Responsibilities
HVAC Deliverable Development, Review & Approval
- Check and approve the main HVAC deliverables issued by the mechanical discipline — including calculation reports, design criteria, technical specifications, data sheets, equipment schedules, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations
- Support mechanical engineers across multiple EPC projects in reviewing vendor documentation relevant to HVAC equipment and systems — providing technical guidance and approval
- Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all HVAC deliverables with applicable international codes, standards, and Worley best engineering practices
- Review tender documentation and prepare clarification requests during bid phases — supporting Chief Engineers to ensure accurate scope definition and technical clarity
HVAC Design Calculations & Equipment Sizing
- Perform HVAC design calculations to applicable international codes and standards — defining main equipment sizing for offshore oil and gas, petrochemical, and energy project applications
- Apply deep knowledge of HVAC calculation software to produce accurate, code-compliant, and project-specific equipment sizing and system design outputs
- Define technical solutions for complex HVAC engineering problems — applying long-standing offshore EPC experience to develop practical, efficient, and cost-effective design approaches
- Propose optimisations and design changes that minimise quantity, reduce costs, or optimise the project schedule without compromising engineering integrity or safety
Knowledge Development, Mentoring & Knowledge Transfer
- Maintain and continuously develop the specific know-how and discipline expertise pertaining to HVAC engineering for offshore oil and gas and petrochemical projects
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced HVAC and mechanical engineering colleagues — sharing technical knowledge, reviewing work outputs, and supporting their professional development
- Promote transfer of knowledge through active mentoring and structured training — building HVAC discipline capability and depth across the wider Worley engineering team in Abu Dhabi
- Stay current with evolving international HVAC codes, standards, and best engineering practices — ensuring Worley’s HVAC discipline knowledge remains current and world-class
Multi-Project Support & Technical Leadership
- Support multiple EPC projects simultaneously — providing senior HVAC engineering input across bid phases, detailed design, and vendor review activities as required
- Act as a trusted technical authority on HVAC matters — providing clear, experienced, and code-compliant technical guidance to project teams and Chief Engineers
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HVAC engineering processes, calculation methodologies, and technical documentation standards within Worley’s mechanical discipline
- Support the bid and tender preparation process with HVAC technical input — assisting in scope definition, technical queries, and clarification responses during the bid phase
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering — required for this Senior HVAC Engineer role
Experience Requirements
- Long-standing experience in HVAC Engineering on large EPC offshore and onshore projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Energy sectors
- Deep practical knowledge of international codes, standards, and best engineering practices applicable to HVAC design for offshore and industrial project environments
- Deep knowledge and hands-on proficiency with HVAC calculation software for equipment sizing and system design validation
