Key Responsibilities
Transformer Testing & Commissioning — Up to 132 kV
- Perform comprehensive testing and commissioning of power and distribution transformers across a range of ratings and voltage levels — up to and including 132 kV — in compliance with project specifications and applicable international testing standards
- Conduct all required pre-commissioning and commissioning electrical tests on power transformers — including insulation resistance measurement, turns ratio testing, winding resistance measurement, magnetizing current tests, and functional performance verification
- Execute high voltage testing activities up to 132 kV in strict accordance with project technical specifications, client requirements, and UAE authority regulations — maintaining personal and team safety as the absolute priority throughout all HV testing activities
- Support installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities for power and distribution transformers — providing hands-on technical support to site installation teams and resolving technical issues that arise during the commissioning phase
Substation, Switchgear & Solar Testing
- Support testing and commissioning of substation systems — including protection relays, control panels, busbars, earthing systems, and associated HV and LV equipment — in coordination with project engineers and utility authority requirements
- Perform testing activities on switchgear installations — including circuit breakers, isolators, contactors, and associated protection and control equipment — verifying operational performance against approved technical specifications
- Support electrical testing and commissioning on solar power projects — including inverter testing, grid connection verification, protection system testing, and performance monitoring for utility-scale and commercial solar installations
- Coordinate actively with project engineers and site teams across all testing and commissioning activities — ensuring that all work is completed within the project schedule and that any technical issues are escalated and resolved efficiently
Test Reports, Technical Documentation & Drawing Interpretation
- Prepare accurate, complete, and professionally presented test reports and technical documentation for all transformer testing, substation commissioning, and switchgear testing activities — ensuring all records are audit-ready and meet client and authority submission standards
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematic diagrams, single-line diagrams, protection relay settings sheets, and technical documents with confidence — applying this understanding to plan, execute, and verify testing activities correctly
- Maintain organized, complete commissioning records — test data sheets, factory test reports, site acceptance test records, and punch list documentation — throughout the full testing and commissioning lifecycle of each project
Safety Compliance & Quality Standards
- Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations, electrical safety standards, and quality requirements across all testing and commissioning activities — demonstrating a genuine personal commitment to safe working practices on every GPTC project site
- Apply relevant UAE authority standards, IEC electrical testing standards, and project-specific health and safety plans to all transformer testing, substation commissioning, and HV testing activities

Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized and accredited university — mandatory educational qualification for all applicants
Experience Requirements
- 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Electrical Testing & Commissioning, Transformer Testing, Substation Projects, Switchgear Testing, or Solar Power Projects
- Practical, hands-on site experience in electrical testing and commissioning — candidates with purely theoretical backgrounds and no site exposure are unlikely to meet the practical requirements of this role
Technical Skills
