Position Overview
The Logistics Planner at Excelitas Technologies in Göttingen is a strategically important supply chain and production planning role at the heart of one of Germany’s most technically sophisticated photonics manufacturing operations. You will lead strategic production planning across relevant customer segments, provide logistical support for new projects through materials management and scheduling, coordinate delivery scenarios with international production sites, define and monitor logistics KPIs, and serve as the central logistics interface between customers, functional departments, and global production plants. With deep SAP proficiency, strong analytical capability, and excellent German and English language skills, you will drive logistics performance, proactively manage risks, and ensure transparent, escalation-ready communication across internal and external stakeholders.
Why This Role Matters: As Logistics Planner at Excelitas Göttingen, you are the operational link that keeps some of the world’s most complex photonic modules flowing from production to the semiconductor and biomedical customers that depend on them. You will coordinate production planning and materials management for high-value, highly technical products where delivery reliability directly impacts global semiconductor manufacturing cycles, define and monitor KPIs that drive measurable logistics performance improvement, manage cross-site international logistics coordination between Göttingen and global production facilities, and build a career in one of Germany’s most prestigious and technically advanced photonics manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Production Planning & Scheduling
- Lead strategic production planning in close collaboration with relevant customer segments — balancing capital tied up, delivery capacity, and on-time delivery targets
- Provide comprehensive logistical support for new projects through materials management, ensuring component availability and timely, quantity-accurate production scheduling
- Develop and evaluate delivery scenarios together with business segments, coordinating closely with international production sites to align global capacity and scheduling
- Maintain continuous production control to ensure that output targets, delivery commitments, and customer requirements are consistently met on schedule
International Logistics Coordination & Interface Management
- Serve as the central logistics contact in both national and international contexts — coordinating the interfaces between customers, functional departments, and global production plants
- Manage cross-functional logistics issues that span departmental boundaries — actively driving and tracking improvement measures through to sustainable implementation
- Coordinate with international production sites to align on delivery scenarios, production capacity, and logistics requirements across the Excelitas global network
- Ensure transparent, proactive communication across all internal and external stakeholders — escalating critical logistics issues promptly and with full context
KPI Management & Logistics Performance Improvement
- Define, analyse, and continuously monitor logistics key performance indicators (KPIs) covering delivery reliability, inventory levels, and supply chain efficiency
- Derive and implement concrete improvement measures based on KPI analysis — driving sustainable performance gains across the Göttingen logistics function
- Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and supply chain vulnerabilities — initiating and coordinating appropriate countermeasures with relevant stakeholders without delay
- Report on logistics performance, risk status, and improvement progress with clarity and accuracy to internal management and cross-functional teams
Materials Management & Risk Management
- Manage in-depth materials management activities — ensuring the right components are available at the right time to support complex, high-precision manufacturing schedules
- Apply strong SAP proficiency to control production planning, materials procurement, inventory management, and logistics scheduling within Excelitas’ ERP environment
- Identify and address procurement and logistics risks before they impact production — coordinating countermeasures actively with purchasing, production, and customer segment teams
- Maintain a structured, solution-oriented approach to complex, interdependent workflow challenges across the Göttingen site’s diverse product portfolio
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience in production planning and logistics
- Additional qualifications in supply chain management, logistics, or materials management are a meaningful professional advantage
Experience Requirements
- Extensive national and international experience in production planning, procurement, and logistics processes in a complex manufacturing environment
